Copyright and License Notice

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors who publish in the Journal of Comparative Study of Religions (JCSR) retain the copyright of their scholarly work, unless otherwise agreed in writing. By publishing with JCSR, authors grant the journal the right to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, and make the published article available as part of the journal's scholarly record.

Authors' moral rights, including the right to be identified as the authors of their work, remain with the authors. JCSR will acknowledge the authors and provide appropriate bibliographic information when publishing and disseminating their articles.

2. License

All articles published in JCSR are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

Full license terms are available at:
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/

Under this license, users are permitted to share, copy, redistribute, and adapt published material for non-commercial purposes, provided that they comply with the following conditions:

  • Attribution (BY): Appropriate credit must be given to the original author(s), the source of publication, and the applicable license. A link to the original article and the license should be provided where reasonably practicable.

  • NonCommercial (NC): The material may not be used for commercial purposes.

  • ShareAlike (SA): If the material is remixed, transformed, or built upon, the resulting material must be distributed under the same license or a license permitted by the terms of CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.

Users must indicate whether changes have been made to the original material and must not imply that the author or JCSR endorses their use. The license does not remove the obligation to respect applicable copyright laws, moral rights, privacy rights, or other rights that may apply to particular material.

3. Open Access

JCSR provides immediate open access to its published articles. Readers may access, read, download, copy, and share published articles without subscription fees or payment to the journal for access.

The journal supports the dissemination of scholarly knowledge for educational, research, library, and other lawful non-commercial purposes, subject to the applicable copyright and licensing terms.

Open access means that the published content is freely available to readers; it does not mean that the content is free of copyright protection or that all forms of reuse are permitted without conditions.

4. Reuse and Distribution

Readers may reuse and redistribute JCSR articles for non-commercial purposes in accordance with CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Appropriate attribution must identify the author(s), article title, journal name, publication details, and DOI or original article URL where available. The license must also be cited or linked, and any modifications must be clearly indicated.

Translations, adaptations, and other derivative works must comply with the ShareAlike requirement of the license. Any use outside the permissions granted by the license, including commercial use, requires separate permission from the relevant rights holder unless an applicable legal exception or limitation permits that use.

Where an article contains third-party material, such as photographs, illustrations, tables, or other content credited to a separate rights holder, that material may be subject to different terms. Users are responsible for checking the relevant credit lines and obtaining any additional permission required.

5. Digital Preservation and Dissemination

JCSR may store, reproduce, convert, transmit, and preserve published articles in digital formats and databases for publication, accessibility, indexing, archiving, and long-term scholarly dissemination. These activities are carried out in accordance with the applicable copyright and licensing terms and with appropriate attribution to the authors.

JCSR may make article metadata and published content available through its journal website and relevant scholarly information services to support discoverability, citation, and access to research.

6. Authors' Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original, that all sources are properly acknowledged, and that they have obtained the necessary permissions for third-party material included in their manuscripts.

By submitting a manuscript to JCSR, authors confirm that they have the authority to submit the work for publication and to grant the rights necessary for publication under the journal's policies. Authors should disclose any material subject to separate copyright or licensing conditions before publication.

For questions concerning copyright, licensing, or reuse of published material, please contact the JCSR editorial office through the contact information provided on the journal website.
