Correction and Retraction

The Journal of Comparative Study of Religions (JCSR) is committed to preserving the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. When a published article is found to contain a significant error or to raise a substantiated concern about research or publication integrity, the journal will assess the matter and take appropriate action.

1. Corrections

A correction may be issued when a published article contains an error that affects the accuracy, clarity, attribution, or interpretation of the work but does not invalidate its principal findings or conclusions. The need for a correction will be assessed by the editor in consultation with the authors and, where appropriate, independent experts.

A correction notice will identify the affected article and describe the correction clearly. The original article will remain available, with a link to the correction notice, where technically feasible.

2. Expressions of Concern

An expression of concern may be issued when credible questions have arisen about a published article but the available evidence is insufficient to reach a final conclusion, or when an investigation is ongoing and readers need to be informed of a material concern.

The notice will explain the reason for the concern to the extent that confidentiality and fairness permit. The journal may update the notice when further information becomes available.

3. Retractions

Retraction may be considered when the reliability of an article is substantially undermined. Grounds may include, but are not limited to, established fabrication or falsification of data, plagiarism, major errors that invalidate the principal findings, unethical research practices, serious publication misconduct, or substantial duplication that compromises the integrity of the scholarly record.

Retraction is intended to correct the scholarly record, not to punish an author. The editor-in-chief, in consultation with the publisher and relevant experts where appropriate, will assess the available evidence and determine the appropriate action. Authors will ordinarily be given an opportunity to respond, unless doing so is not feasible or would compromise the integrity of the process.

4. Publication and Identification of Notices

A correction, expression of concern, or retraction notice will clearly identify the affected article and explain the reason for the action. Where available, the notice will include the article title, authors, publication details, and DOI. The notice will be linked to the original article, and the original article will remain identifiable in the journal archive.

For a retracted article, the journal will clearly mark its retracted status and retain the article in the scholarly record where technically feasible, rather than silently removing it. Any changes to the online article will be made in a manner that preserves transparency and traceability.

5. Initiating a Request

Authors, readers, reviewers, editors, or other parties with relevant information may notify the editorial office at jcsr@unida.gontor.ac.id. Reports should identify the article and provide a clear explanation and supporting evidence where possible.

All concerns will be assessed fairly, confidentially, and in proportion to the evidence and seriousness of the issue. The journal may consult authors, reviewers, the publisher, institutions, or other appropriate parties when necessary.

The final decision and any public notice will be made by the journal's editorial leadership in consultation with the publisher, as appropriate, with the aim of maintaining an accurate and trustworthy scholarly record.
